2006 Keynote speaker:
Caterina Cregor Blitzer

Coordinator of International Education for the Indiana Dept. of Education
Ms. Blitzer has held a variety of leadership roles in international trade, education, and economic development in both private and public sectors, most recently as the President of the International Center of Indianapolis.  Her full bio is below.  Saturday, she will speak about the ways in which immigration is changing education in Indiana. 

Biographical Information
Caterina Cregor Blitzer  

Caterina Cregor Blitzer, Coordinator of International Education for the Indiana Department of Education was born in Trieste, Italy.  She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of ndiana University with a B.A. in French, Italian and German and has a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Comparative Literature and Linguistics. 

Blitzer has held a variety of leadership roles in international trade, education and economic development in the public and private sector, most recently as President and CEO of the International Center of Indianapolis, 1995 - 2006. She served in the administration of Governor Robert D. Orr and as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development in the administration of Mayor Stephen Goldsmith.  A consultant to the Lilly Endowment, Inc., Blitzer authored a report in 1989:  Status of International Service Organizations, giving rise to the International Issues Task Force resulting in the establishment of the International School of Indiana and the language immersion program in Lawrence Township, Indianapolis.  

Caterina is married to Herb Blitzer, native of Brooklyn, New York, executive director of the Institute for Forensic Imaging.  They have five children and two great grandmothers (88 and 96) in their blended famiglia.  Their children are Maureen Blitzer, Market Research Director at Kodak; Jonathan Blitzer, nurse in San Francisco, Amy Blitzer, manufacturing company staff in Milwaukee, Matthew Cregor, J.D., fellow in educational policy reform at the Southern Poverty Law Center, Alabama, and Lauren Cregor, singer, pianist and composer pursuing M.S. in musical composition and technology at NYU.  In the family's spare time they enjoy hiking, swimming, and cooking and eating foods of various cultures, especially Italian.
